When we last left Stephanie Plum, the junior bounty hunter was hot on the trail of her ex-flame turned fugitive. This time, her case involves another acquaintance from the burg. Kenny Mancuso shot his buddy in the knee and promptly jumped bail. Stephanie spots her man but he escapes before she can catch him. Soon enough, the shooting victim is killed and it may be tied to military surplus items,

Two for the Dough follows our favorite "fugitive apprehension agent" through her Trenton neighborhood. The hunt takes her to a world of stolen caskets and funeral parlors. Comic relief arrives in the form of Stephanie's Grandma Mazur: a spry gal who frequents neighborhood wakes as though they were social gatherings.

Evanovich's second Plum adventure is a real hoot. The heroine is smart (and a smart ass) yet impulsive enough to get in some suspenseful jams. The author paints a homey picture of a traditional Trenton burg and it allows readers to really get into the plot. You don't need to read One for the Money to follow the events of this book, but it is recommended you do so in order to learn how Stephanie Plum got to this point in the first place.

Everybody is related to somebody in this tale making it hard to keep track of all the names. The story moves along nicely, however, and Grandma Mazur's scene stealing antics make the book. Two for the Dough is a fun tale and a successful sequel. Stephanie Plum is a great character and she's bound to be your favorite fugitive apprehension agent as well.
